My Artistic Inspiration
I have roamed the forest since I was a child. To me the forest is energizing, yet calming, with beauty everywhere. It's a magical place!!! This connection with Nature and the forest is the inspiration behind my art.
On my forest walks, I will see a piece of fallen wood, a stump or root that stands out to me....it looks special....a hidden treasure created by Nature. My passion is to bring these forest treasures to life ... as art pieces revealed.
Through my art I hope to bring a little forest magic into a person's home.....whether it is a city house, condo in the sky, a country home, or cottage.
The forest has something for everyone.
My Technique and Process
My technique focuses on preserving the unique forest beauty of each piece while I reveal them.
My process is multi-layered and takes time. It starts in my very own "Hundred Acre Wood" near Parry Sound, Ontario, when I discover a raw treasure and retrieve it....not always an easy task! The process continues in drying the wood, cleaning, multiple layers of hand sanding and varnishing, and finally mounting as a sculpture or wall art. As a person of the forest, the environment is very important to me. All my art is sourced from trees that are dead or have fallen through the course of nature.
